The Hennepin County Sheriff's Department is investigating after a woman was found dead in the Bloomington jail overnight Thursday.
Police say staff were conducting their routine safety checks when they found the 29-year old woman unresponsive in a single-occupant cell.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to perform life-saving efforts which were unsuccessful.
Police say there were no immediate signs indicating the cause of death.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and release the woman's name at a later date.
