Heads up commuters. A month-long closure at a very busy east metro intersection begins Monday.

The ramps and loops between Highway 36 and Fairview Avenue are closed for roughly the next month according to MnDOT spokesman Kent Barnard.

"We do have some alternate roads for people that need to get to the businesses in that area," says Barnard. "I will stress that all of those businesses will remain open and access to them will be maintained throughout the project."

Barnard says they're rebuilding that entire intersection to help better facilitate the flow of traffic in the area.

"We do have some traffic backups on the eastbound highway sometimes, due to that traffic," Barnard explains. "Hopefully we can reduce those or eliminate them."

Barnard says updates on the project's progress and traffic in the area can be found on their website or 511.org.
