Still battling the COVID-19 pandemic, and especially the dangerous Delta variant of the virus, many people are probably going to sit out the Minnesota State Fair which begins this Thursday.
For so many Minnesotans it’s the state fair food that draws them back every year. The lines for the fair’s food drive-through last summer and fall was evidence of that. Paying for a chance to stay in your car, and then pay for your favorite state fair foods is definitely a big clue.
For those that are passing on this year’s fair experience, you do have a chance to enjoy a few fair favorites at home however.
A local catering entrepreneur is again offering Minnesota State Fair fans some favorite snacks. State Fair To Go has two meal kits from a few of the State Fair's vendors that sell for $59.95 plus shipping.
The Signature Box is a meal kit that comes with frozen Sweet Martha's chocolate chip cookie dough, State Fair Mini Donuts, Pronto Pups, cheese curds from Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, Rosie's Fries and a coupon to buy corn from Cub Foods.
The Blue Ribbon Box offers Fernie's Funnel Cakes mix, kettle corn and mixed popcorn from Big Pop, plus State Fair Taffy, Bare Honey Sticks, The Jerky Shoppe's beef sticks, and Oreo cookies which you’re supposed to deep-fry in the funnel cake mix. You also get a coffee mug featuring the Minnesota State Fair’s famous mascot.
If you’re really addicted to these fair foods, here’s the good news: they’re available all-year now.
It’s not the same as heading to the fair of course. But for some that aren’t willing to brave the crowds, it’s a little slice of the Great-Minnesota-Get-Together at home.
