Jacksonville, Fla. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After playing just one season in Jacksonville during the 2024 campaign, the Jaguars announced on Wednesday the release of former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis.
Davis signed with the Jaguars following the 2023 season to a three-year free agency contract worth $39 million. This after very respectable four-year run with the Bills from 2020-23.
However, Davis struggled to find success in Jacksonville, reeling in just 20 passes in 2024 for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
With the Bills, the former fourth-round pick (128th overall) out of the University of Central Florida caught 163 passes for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. His best season in Buffalo came during his third year in the league with 48 receptions for 836 yards and seven scores.
It's hard to forget Davis' career moment, to this point, with the Bills during the 2021 playoffs in an AFC Divisional Round matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. That night saw Davis catch eight passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns.
Despite the stellar performance to help Buffalo grab a 36-33 lead with just 13 seconds remaining in regulation, the Chiefs were able to tie the game with a last-second field goal, force overtime, and score the game-winning touchdown on the first drive of the extra quarter.
Davis is now free to sign with any team following his release.
