Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Buffalo Bills second-year running back James Cook put up a career day this past Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys at Highmark Stadium with 221 total yards (179 yards rushing and 42 yards receiving) of offense and a pair of touchdowns.

That performance has earned the 24-year-old honors as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 15.

Cook was a force to be reckoned with beyond the line of scrimmage, as he averaged just over four yards per-carry passed the line of scrimmage before contact from a Dallas defender. He also recorded a career-high 25 carries in Sunday's victory.

This is the first time Cook has earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor in his career, and is the first Bills running back to be named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week since Travis Henry in 2002.

So far this season, Cook currently sits second in the NFL with 968 rushing yards, only behind San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. He also averages 5.3 yards per-carry, which is currently the fourth-best rate in the league.

Through parts of two seasons with the Bills, Cook has just under 1,500 yards and four scores on the ground, while adding 613 yards and five touchdowns through the air.

Cook was drafted in the second round (63rd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Bills out of the University of Georgia. While with the Bulldogs, Cook racked up over 1,500 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

It is the third time a Bills offensive player has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week this season. Josh Allen has both of the other honors this season for performances in Weeks 2 and 4 of the 2023 campaign.

Terrel Bernard was also honored this season as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 3, while Reggie Gilliam earned honors as AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 11.

The Bills will look to continue their winning ways this Saturday night when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers for an 8 p.m. EST kickoff at SoFi Stadium.
