McDermott felt Bills played 'relentless style of football' in win over Steelers

Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media following his team's 26-7 victory in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pa. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills bounced back from a tough Thursday night loss to the Houston Texans last week with a much needed, and impressive 26-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.

Both defenses locked each other's offenses down in the first half, and the Bills eventually found themselves down 7-3 at halftime. Buffalo also didn't do itself any favors offensively with two turnovers, including a James Cook fumble in the second quarter that eventually led to a scoring drive for Pittsburgh.

However, the game quickly turned in Buffalo's favor after a strip-sack from Bills pass rusher Joey Bosa ended up a scoop-and-score touchdown for cornerback Christian Benford.

Then after an interception from Benford on the next Steelers drive, the Bills turned it into another touchdown, this time with quarterback Josh Allen finding wide receiver Keon Coleman after the second-year wideout was a healthy scratch for the previous two contests.

The Bills eventually added a historic rushing touchdown from Allen, and later an insurance field goal from kicker Matt Prater to snatch a win on the road and improve to 8-4 on the season.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott emphasized the importance of second half adjustments in order for his team to be successful in this contest, especially in a low-scoring 7-3 game when the offense had a couple costly turnovers.

"We were driving the ball in the first half against a good defense, and then we were shooting ourselves in the foot with a couple false start penalties and losing the ball. That was really the message at halftime, more than anything, is to take care of the ball and make sure we're executing the way we know how to execute," said McDermott on Sunday following the win with the media.

In order to play well in a hostile environment like Pittsburgh, teams in the NFL have to play with toughness and composure. McDermott credited his offense and defense in the second half with that specific style of dominance.

"They were kind of just flying around, playing a relentless style football," McDermott said. "They work hard during the week, and take a lot of pride in their work. I couldn't be happier with the way they played tonight."
