Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have added another veteran piece to their wide receivers room via free agency.

The team announced on Tuesday the signing of wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a one-year deal reportedly worth $4.5 million after hosting the veteran to a free agent visit on Monday. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport was the first to report the signing.

Valdes-Scantling spent the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was able to win back-to-back Super Bowl championships. In 33 games played in Kansas City, the 29-year-old reeled in 63 passes on 123 targets for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns.

In seven postseason games for the Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling caught 15 passes on 24 targets for 250 yards and three scores.

Valdes-Scantling started his career with the Green Bay Packers after being selected in the fifth round (174th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of South Florida.

Over the course of four seasons in Green Bay, Valdes-Scantling caught 123 passes on 247 targets for 2,153 yards and 13 touchdowns.

His best professional season in the league came during the 2020 season, where he reeled in 33 passes from NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers for 690 yards and six touchdowns. Valdes-Scantling also led the NFL that season with an average of 20.9 yards per-reception.

Valdes-Scantling now joins a wide receivers room in Buffalo that includes fellow veterans Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins, 2024 second-round rookie Keon Coleman, third-year wideout Khalil Shakir and others like Chase Claypool, Quintez Cephus and K.J. Hamler.
