Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – After placing forward Tyson Jost on waivers on Thursday, the veteran center has cleared through without any other team placing a claim. That has allowed the Sabres to assign the 25-year-old to the Rochester Americans.
The Sabres make the move with Jost in order to allow for a roster spot to open up for forward Zemgus Girgensons, who is returning from a stint on Injured Reserve with a lower-body injury.
Jost scored just two goals and picked up four points in 29 games played this season in Buffalo. He was re-signed by the Sabres this past offseason as an unrestricted free agent to a one-year deal worth $2 million.
The native of St. Albert, Alberta was claimed off waivers by the Sabres on Nov. 19 last year from the Minnesota Wild. He finished his 2022-23 season with 22 points (7+14) in 59 games played with the Sabres.
Jost was the first-round pick (10th overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Draft.
