Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Just before the 3 p.m. EST NHL Trade Deadline on Friday, the Buffalo Sabres were able to finalize a trade with the Nashville Predators.

The Sabres have sent forward Rasmus Asplund to the Predators in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Asplund has been caught in a numbers game on the roster for a majority of the 2022-23 season, only playing in 27 games after being a staple depth piece in the lineup last year. In those 27 games, he scored a pair of goals and added six assists for eight points.
The 25-year-old was a former second-round pick (33rd overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft. After a couple of years of development in his home nation of Sweden, Asplund eventually made the jump to North America, making his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season.

In 164 career games with the Sabres over parts of four seasons, Asplund managed to score 18 goals and register 31 assists for 49 points primarily as a versatile bottom-six forward.
