Less than a week removed from Colin Cowherd proclaiming the AFC was in trouble with the New England Patriots looking hot, he picked Andrew Luck over Tom Brady.
For context’s sake, Cowherd was playing his second annual “quarterback face” game where he picks every NFL playoff matchup based on the quarterback.
Nonetheless, Cowherd was all-in on Luck over Brady in the AFC Championship game.
"Andrew Luck is a better player right now than Tom Brady," said Cowherd. "Tom Brady's 40, he's declining, he's still really good, but if you're asking me 'who's the bigger, stronger, more athletic stat guy this year?' One guy's got Belichick, one guy's got Frank Reich. I would take Andrew Luck over Tom Brady."
On the season, Luck is 430-for-639 for 4593 yards passing, with 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Brady is 375-for-570 for 4,355 yards passing, with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Brady wasn't the only one Cowherd picked Luck over. He also picked Luck over Patrick Mahomes to even get to the AFC championship.
"Again, I stand by it," said Cowherd. "This is Mahomes' first year starting. Andrew Luck is a better QB pre-snap, more experience, understanding the entire game."
And then for the grand finale, Cowherd gave Luck the nod over Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl.
"I have the Colts in my face bracket winning the Super Bowl because I think Andrew Luck right now is the best, most valuable player in the league," said Cowherd. "He's taking more average players and rookies so Andrew Luck wins the Super Bowl."
You just can't make some things up.
