Sept. 5, 1998.
On that day, McKorkle "Mac" Jones came into this world, born to the proud parents of Gordon and Holly Jones.
That same exact day also served as a momentous occasion for Tom Brady Sr. and his wife Galynn. Their son, Tommy, made his first start as a college quarterback.
By day's end, the Jones were probably a bit more upbeat than the Brady family considering how things turned out in Tom's debut as the starting quarterback for the University of Michigan football team.
With the Wolverines coming off an unbeaten 1997 campaign, led by then-starter Brian Griese, Brady's 1998 crew came up short in their season-opener against Notre Dame, dropping at 36-20 decision in South Bend, Ind.
Brady did acquit himself fairly well in his introduction as a starter, going 23-of-36 for 267 yards without an interception or touchdown.
