6 rings & football things: Reacting to Day 2 of NFL Free Agency
The Patriots have officially added a pass catcher in free agency.
New England has agreed to terms with tight end Austin Hooper according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
It’s a one-year deal worth up to $4.25 million for Hooper, who played under now-Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt while in Cleveland. Over two seasons with the Browns, the 6-foot-4 target caught 84 passes for 780 yards and seven touchdowns.
Hooper joins a Patriots tight end room with Hunter Henry, who re-signed with the team on a three-year contract last Friday. New England lost Mike Gesicki in free agency to the Bengals on Tuesday afternoon.
