If you love football and especially football social media then these are the days you live. Except if you’re the guy who lost his job.
When news broke that the Patriots were releasing Cam Newton and therefore Mac Jones winning the job as the starting quarterback of the New England Patriots, social media went, as expected, absolutely wild.
Predictably most Patriots fans were elated over the news...
...while some were disappointed.
It was great to see some love and appreciation thrown Cam’s way from fans...

Some have speculated as to Cam’s future in the NFL...

...and one particular meme of unbelievably coincidence that went viral, and was just plain ice cold.
Fans of other teams didn’t seem to pleased that the Patriots were more than ready to start their future now.
While fans of some future opponents seemed to be savoring the news (let’s hope these takes turn freezing cold quickly).

But of all the incredible numbers, facts and stats surrounding this news perhaps this one shines brightest.
You have to imagine Newton is disappointed mightily, but it was a relief to see him weigh in and let us know he was gonna be alright.
In the end, it’s sad to see someone who loved his job and wanted desperately to please the fans have to go. But it’s also great to see those same fans embracing the future.
