It didn’t take long at all for Daniel Jones to reach out to his new wide receiver Paris Campbell to try and organize a time to get together to throw.
“Daniel actually texted me as well [Thursday]. He told me he was a big fan of my game for a long time,” Campbell said at his introductory press conference on Friday. “That got me excited. I’m a huge fan of his game and how he took the step to get better each and every year of his career. If you ask anybody, you can see his development and how he took control and commanded this offense. He did great things last year. He got what he deserved, and I’m so happy for him.
“I’m actually out in Arizona training for the offseason, and he was like, ‘I gotta get out to Arizona, let’s get to work.’ That’s what you want. You’re a new guy coming in, a new piece to the offense, and your quarterback is already like, ‘Let’s go, let’s get some work together.’ That’s just so welcoming and so promising.”
Jones received a four-year contract extension, while Campbell signed a one-year deal with Big Blue, as the team looks to add more weapons around Jones this year, something that was sorely lacking this past season.
Still, Jones was able to turn in a career year, and is clearly motivated to improve upon that this season.
“I’m ready to build on the relationship and build that rapport,” Campbell said.
