Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After a quite comfortable victory this past Sunday against the New York Jets in the Meadowlands, the Buffalo Bills are back home on a short week to take on the Miami Dolphins at Highmark Stadium on "Thursday Night Football".
While Bills head coach Sean McDermott was relatively pleased with what he saw from his team on Sunday, he knows it's a challenge to quickly flip the script and switch gears on just three days rest.
"You want to be able to go through the game the right way after any game. In this case, we watched the film on the plane ride home, about an hour plane ride, give or take, from New York. So you're only able to get in so much of film during that time span, but you're trying to catch the big things, if that makes sense. To make sure we can get those addressed and move forward in a better way," said McDermott on Wednesday while appearing on the "Extra Point Show" on WGR.
One big loss for the Bills from this past week on the defensive side of the football was linebacker Matt Milano, who took an early exit with a pectoral injury. Milano will not play against the Dolphins, along with defensive tackle Ed Oliver due to an ankle injury. McDermott says it'll be a "wait and see" approach for their availability going forward.
As for Milano's timeline, he says the team still doesn't have a clear outlook on the seriousness of his pec injury.
"What I've been told is it's too early until they really see how this thing settles in, if you will, or plays itself out, in terms of the days following the injury," McDermott said with Sal Capaccio. "I think that'll have a direct impact on how long he's out."
Kickoff for Thursday night's prime-time showdown is slated for 8:15 p.m. and can be heard on the official voice of the Bills - WGR Sports Radio 550.
