Buffalo, NY (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Sabres fell short in Carolina in a close contest by a score of 2-1. Rasmus Dahlin scored the first and only goal of game early in the first period.

Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff joined Jeremy White on the Jeremy and Joe show to break down the loss and look ahead on a quick turnaround to Nashville.

First, Lindy was asked about Sean McDermott and the Buffalo Bills' situation as a fellow coach in a professional sports, as McDermott was fired by the Bills earlier this week.

"I can't speak for him, but when you do it for a period of time there's I think this adrenaline rush. And there's this business part of it, of developing players and building a team that is in you that you don't want to quit, you want to get back at it. And I would guess that is Sean's demeanor, he would want to be back at it and and I hope he does get right back at it."

The Sabres have found themselves on a little bit of a dip, after the 10 game win streak anything would feel like that, but they have been able to win close games and squeak out overtime points here and there between losses. The shots on net have been few and far between, but the scoring chances have been high quality. Ruff spoke on the game plan and how it was executed.

"We've been making some great plays. Hanging onto the puck. I thought, especially in the first period, we deferred a little bit too much to maybe too pretty a play, you know, I referenced that after the game. We wanted to try to create as much pressure inside the game and create some odd numbered rushes, because they're really aggressive on you. And I think we did that."

Josh Norris has been missing from play due to an upper body injury. He has been a huge part of the team's success this season, when healthy. Ruff gave an update on his status as well.

"The latest I got from him is he is doing better than when we left. He was optimistic about getting back on the ice here later this week. So for me, that's real encouraging."

Puck drop is set for 8:00 in Nashville as they have a quick turnaround. You'll be able to catch all of the game action on the radio home of the Buffalo Sabres, WGR Sports Radio 550.
