8 public hearings set in Lackawanna County property reassessment

Lackawanna County announced that they will hold a series of eight public meetings on the ongoing property reassessment at different schools across the county, beginning this afternoon at 5pm at Riverside High School, Taylor. Other hearings scheduled for next week include Tuesday, February 25, at North Pocono Middle School, Moscow and Wednesday, February 26, Abington Heights Middle School, Newton Twp. Lackawanna County has not conducted a reassessment since 1968 and says the public information sessions will be helpful because most residents are not familiar with the process. The director of the Lackawanna County Assessment Office, Patrick Tobin, said the data collection for the reassessment to determine valuations of more than 103,000 parcels in the county is already underway.
