SCRANTON, PA — Following the mailing of more than 18,000 mail-in and absentee ballots to registered voters across Lackawanna County, election officials are emphasizing key security regulations and operational schedules for returning completed ballots.
County officials remind voters that under Pennsylvania election law, voters may only deposit their own individual ballot into official drop boxes or return it via mail. All designated collection locations are equipped with 24-hour video surveillance to ensure compliance and maintain secure ballot custody.
While the main drop box located at the Lackawanna County Government Center in Scranton will accept ballots through Election Day, municipal collection boxes located at satellite sites across the county are scheduled for final collection and removal on Friday, Oct. 30.
Key voter registration and ballot deadlines set by county and state election authorities include:
- Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, Oct. 19
- Mail-In & Absentee Application Deadline: Tuesday, Oct. 27
- Ballot Return Deadline: Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, by 8:00 p.m.
For additional information on voting procedures, ballot status tracking, or official drop box schedules, voters should visit the official Lackawanna County Department of Elections and Voter Registration Portal or check state guidelines on PA Voter Services.
