A woman is facing charges for allegedly helping a man wanted for a domestic shooting flee Luzerne County. Tierra Shanell Gilliam is charged with hindering prosecution after investigators say she drove 33-year-old Jason Dates to Philadelphia on Tuesday while a manhunt was underway.
The incident began Tuesday morning when Hanover Township Police responded to a domestic dispute that turned violent. According to authorities, the victim attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle, but Dates followed her. When both vehicles stopped at the intersection of Fellows Avenue and San Souci Parkway, Dates allegedly fired a shot through the victim's car door, striking her in the leg.
Following the shooting, the victim was able to drive herself to the Hanover Township Police Department to seek help for the gunshot wound. Dates fled the area immediately after the encounter. Police allege that Gilliam provided transportation for Dates, allowing him to evade local authorities and escape to Philadelphia. Dates remains at large, while Gilliam now awaits further legal proceedings for her role in the escape.
