I'm sure you're already thinking about fall foulage. There is locally an area that is featured as a great place to walk and enjoy the change in leaf color. Called Paint Creek Trail it's along where the Penn Central Railroad operated.
Over eight miles long between Lake Orion and Rochester it also gives you views of Paint Creek. If you want a shorter walk journey over to the bike trail. Your dog will love it there also.
