We love happy places. Here's a ranking of happiest states. No surprise that Hawaii tops the list followed by Maryland, Minnesota, Utah, and surprisingly New Jersey. I've talked to several people who have moved out of New Jersey because of monster taxes.
It all based on things like vibes at work, communities, and health. Michigan is lower mid-pack. At the bottom is West Virginia which is often ranked low in many categories even though they have beautiful mountain terrain. Many people move to Florida which is not near the top. See all here.
