HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin has named Interim Police Chief Jason Thody to take the job on a permanent basis.Thody has been leading the department since last April, when Chief David Rosado left for the private sector.After first vowing a national search for the next police chief, Bronin now says continuity is more important. He introduced Thody at a City Hall news conference Wednesday morning.Thody vowed to continue efforts to reduce violent crime and increase service to the community. He also pledged to continue efforts to increase police transparency."It is my philosophy that you have to be open. You have to shed the light on things even if they're negative," said Thody.Thody has been with the department since 1996. He must still be confirmed by the City Council.
