(WINDHAM, Conn./WTIC) - A man is dead and state police are investigating after they say he crashed his car into a tree Thursday afternoon.
A little before 3:30, troopers responded to Route 66 and Scott Road in Windham.
That's where they found 54-year-old Fernandez Salgado of Chaplin suffering from serious injuries.
He was later pronounced dead at Windham Hospital.
Investigators are trying to determine why the Honda Accord Salgado was operating veered into the eastbound lanes as he traveled west along Route 66, striking the tree along the eastbound direction.
No other vehicles were involved.
Anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to get in touch with state police at the Troop K barracks.
