New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - The first mosquitoes this season to test positive for West Nile virus were trapped recently in Wethersfield.
Experts say the rainy, humid weather this month could lead to a bumper crop of disease carrying mosquitoes.
"The first West Nile virus mosquitoes of the season have been identified," said Dr. Phil Armstrong with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven, adding they'll be keeping a close eye on mosquitoes for virus activity through October.
Those at CAES advise wearing long clothing and using insect repellent if you'll be out at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
