SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ South Windsor police are mourning the loss off one of their fellow officers.
Officer Ben Lovett was off-duty while riding a motorcycle on June 26. He was struck by a car, whose driver was allegedly intoxicated according to police.
Lovett, 25, was hospitalized at Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. He died on Tuesday in the hospital.
A department news release read, in part, "...Benjamin was a valuable member of the department, an easy going and bright officer, a friend and a coworker who will be greatly missed by his family at the South Windsor Police Department..."
Police arrested Spencer Kraus, 24, for driving the car involved in the wreck. Kraus was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, evading responsibility, and failure to obey a stop sign. He's due in court on July 20.
