Connecticut State Police are investigating an incident in which a student charged toward and grabbed a teacher at the Manson Youth Institution in Cheshire.
The Connecticut Department of Correction reports the incident happened during a classroom instruction on Tuesday.
Staff was able to bring the student under control and removed from the classroom.
There were no reported injuries to the teacher, the student, or responding staff.
“Our teachers walk into an environment in which the security concerns are evident, yet they continue to show up daily with the belief that education can change a person’s future,” said Interim Commissioner Sharonda Carlos. “This takes true courage and commitment, and I am grateful that no one was injured.”
