Suspect arrested in Waterbury shooting

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Waterbury police have arrested a man in connection with a weekend shooting that left a woman injured.

An argument broke out on Willow Street between Yadeil Figueroa, 28, of Waterbury, and the female victim around 1 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020.

During the incident, Figueroa allegedly punched the victim and, after the two were separated, police say he pulled out a pistol and shot her in the thigh while she ran away.

Officers say Figueroa pursued the victim while she hid behind a car. He shot at her at least two more times.

The victim was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital for treatment.

Figueroa is being held on a $1,000,000 bond. He has been charged with criminal attempt at murder, first degree assault, first degree reckless endangerment, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal discharge of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm.
