Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Connecticut has sent assistance to hard hit Vermont in wake of catastrophic flooding.

Governor Lamont has authorized a search and rescue unit to assist officials in that state as they try to rebound from the flooding this week.

Eight members of the state's Urban Search and Rescue team have deployed.

The deployment was made possible through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact or EMAC.

Many roads in the Green Mountain State have been washed out as a result of two months of rain that fell in about a day's time.
