Waterbury, Conn. (WTIC Radio)- Authorities are searching for a homicide suspect in the shooting of a city man early Thursday morning, the third such killing in less than a week, police said.
Police responded to a shots fired incident at Bertie's West Indian Restaurant on North Main Street around 12:47 AM. They discovered Lechard Santos, 32, lying outside in the parking lot. He later died at Saint Mary's Hospital.
Police recovered a 2012 Silver Acura TL in Southington, believed to have been operated by the suspect.
He's identified as 30-year old Joseph Whitaker of Waterbury. Whitaker's arrest warrant charges him with the murder of Santos. The warrant carries a two million dollars bond.
Waterbury Police are asking the public for assistance in locating Whitaker, who they said may possess a handgun.
Last weekend, two Waterbury residents were shot and killed outside a social club and restaurant.
