TROY (WWJ) - A young man has died, according to authorities, following a crash just off the freeway in Troy.
Troy police say they're continuing to investigate what they have determined was a single-car accident, early Wednesday morning.
Joseph Adam Zelinski of Rochester Hills was killed after losing control of his car, a 2006 black Ford Fusion, along northbound I-75 near the Rochester Road exit.
Zelinski's car went off the exit ramp, police said, and struck a light pole. He was extracted from the vehicle by Troy firefighters and taken to Beaumont Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police said Zelinski was alone in the car, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
It's unclear what led to the crash. The exit ramp was closed for about two hours for an investigation.
