DETROIT (WWJ) - A small child has been reunited with his mother after a possible carjacking in northwest Detroit.

Police say the mother was pushed out of a car at Grand River and Livernois avenues Thursday morning and the suspect drove off with her 1-year-old son inside.

A Good Samaritan saw what happened and took the woman to a nearby police station.

Meantime, the child was dropped off at a house about four miles away on Ward Street off Puritan Avenue, where people are said to be squatting. Officers raided the home and located the child unharmed. Officers also seized three long guns from the home and forced the woman and her child, along with another woman and a man, to vacate the property.

Neighbors tell WWJ City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas that the house and those who stay there are nothing but trouble.

"It's terrible. I woke up to this. They passed my house, I said 'What's going on?' because I thought somebody passed away. But it's a carjacking and a house of drugs and guns and kids. It don't make sense," said one woman, who did not want to be named.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
