DETROIT (WWJ) - Kids across in southeast Michigan are getting another day off after a winter storm brought several inches of snow and bitterly cold temperatures to the area.
More than 300 schools are closed Tuesday — including all public schools in Lapeer and St. Clair counties, as well as all Detroit public schools.

Forecasters say temperatures will remain steady in the teens Tuesday with wind chills below zero throughout the day. It will be even colder on Wednesday, so many schools will likely remain closed another day.
A Wind Chill Warning is in effect for all of southeast Michigan from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Thursday. Wind chills are predicted as low as -50 degrees in many places, including Metro Detroit. Frostbite will occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes, and hypothermia and death are possible if precautions are not taken.
On Monday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in Michigan to help address threats to public health and safety, as temperatures are forecasted to dip below zero, with dangerously low wind chills over the next few days.
