(WWJ) A man using a stolen van and a chain early Wednesday in an attempt to bust through a back door of Big Daddy's Liquor Store on Joy Road, near Southfield, ended up in the hospital.
Police say he fled when they arrived. They gave chase. In the flight, the man somehow rolled the van and got pinned underneath.
"Our officer actually verbally said stop before the suspect got into the an and took off from the location," a first responder told WWJ Newsradio.
The Fire Department got him out and transported him to a local hospital, where he's in critical condition.
"Bam, boom, boom, bam, that's all you heard," Doug, who lives in the neighborhood, told WWJ's Mike Campbell.
