MENOMINEE (WWJ) - A Michigan teen who disappeared nearly two weeks ago has been found dead in the Menominee River in the Upper Peninsula.

According to the Menominee Police Department, local police, the Marinette County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Michigan and Wisconsin DNR were searching the water Tuesday when the body of 17-year-old Kristin Hope Gromoske was discovered at around 3 p.m., near Stephenson Island.

Gromoske was last seen by her family on Friday, Nov. 8, as she left her mother's home on 1st Street in Menominee. Her mother posted on Facebook that the teen left with someone on her own accord, but the person she was with has not yet been publicly identified.

Gromoske was reported missing three days later, and tips were sought from the public over concern for her welfare.

Many questions remain at this time, including the circumstances leading up to the teen's death, and if investigators suspect foul play. No arrests have been announced, and no suspects have been named.

Police said Thursday that Gromoske's death remains under investigation, and that more information will be forthcoming.
