Businesses Evacuated Due To Gas Line Break In Detroit [VIDEO]

(WWJ) Some Detroit residents may notice a strong smell in the air after a DTE Energy contract worker hit a gas line Wednesday morning, on the city's west side.

DTE crews, Detroit Police and the Detroit Fire Department were on the scene, with repairs to the line well underway by mid-morning.

The surrounding area — near McNichols and Sunderland Rd., west of the Southfield Freeway — was evacuated, including around ten businesses.

There was no official timeline for when the line will be fixed, although WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton said he was told that repairs shouldn't take too long.

No injuries were reported.
