(WWJ) - It's a small victory for a Monroe County mother fighting for more time with her teenage son, who has been declared brain dead.

An Ann Arbor District Court judge ruled Monday that C.S. Mott Children's Hospital cannot take 14-year-old Bobby Reyes off life support. The doctors wanted to turn off the machines, but the teen's family hired a legal team to stop the action.

Bobby, from Ash Township, has been on life support for a week following a massive asthma attack that left him unable to function. Even though doctors have declared the teen brain dead, his family says they're already seeing improvement and are hoping for a miracle.

His mom, Sarah Jones, says in a Facebook post that she's hoping to transfer Bobby to Arizona to see a doctor who treats similar cases.

In a statement, Mott Children's Hospital says they empathize with the Reyes' situation and will help transport him to another hospital.
