MT. CLEMENS, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Chicago woman is facing several charges after stabbing her cousin multiple times and fleeing police following a party at a Clinton Township mobile home park over the weekend.

The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office says 30-year-old Crystal Kelly has been charged with assault with intent to murder, one count of fleeing and eluding police and one count of resisting and obstructing police.

Prosecutors say around 2 a.m. Saturday, Kelly left a party at the Le Chateau Mobile Home Park in Clinton Township with a group of her cousins. Two of the passengers in her car began arguing, which led to Kelly stopping the car in the middle of Hayes Road, near the Crosswinds Condominiums on the border of Clinton Township and Sterling Heights.

Kelly allegedly proceeded to get out of the car, open the door to the back seat and stab her male cousin twice in the neck. Police and prosecutors say the fight continued in the middle of the street until the man fell to the ground. She allegedly got back in the car and drove away, leaving the victim lying in the street, bleeding from his neck.

The victim was ultimately taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital for emergency treatment, while Sterling Heights and Clinton Township police worked to track her down. Kelly was located near Schultz Estates in Clinton Township, still driving the white Hyundai Tucson. As authorities tried to stop her, Kelly took off and led police on a chase into Sterling Heights, traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph, according to the prosecutor's office.

Police chased her into the parking lot of Sterling Heights High School and blocked her in the vehicle. Even as her vehicle was surrounded, Kelly refused to cooperate with police. A Clinton Township officer was forced to use his baton to break out the driver's side window to finally arrest her, prosecutors said.

"Thanks to the swift, concerted efforts by two of Macomb County's finest agencies, Clinton Township and Sterling Heights, this dangerous suspect was apprehended before she could inflict any more harm," Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said in a statement.

Smith says the "sudden, vicious attack on her own cousin shines a light on how dangerous this defendant was.

Kelly was arraigned and given a $1 million dollar bond in 41-B District Court. The felony charge of assault with intent to murder carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, while the other charges are two-year felonies.
