DETROIT (WWJ) -- All of Southeast Michigan is now under a Winter Weather Advisory, as a storm moves through the region Friday afternoon into Saturday.

But just how much snow you'll see is expected to vary quite a bit, depending on your county.

According to the National Weather Service, Washtenaw, Oakland, Livingston, Genesee, and Lapeer counties are expected to see up to 6 inches of snow accumulation before this is all over on Saturday.

Macomb, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe counties are not expected to get hit as hard, although forecasters are warning that heavy, wet snow could make travel difficult at times, particularly during Friday's evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory for Huron, Tuscola, Sanilac, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland and Washtenaw counties is in effect from 1 p.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday with forecasted snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

Winter Weather Advisory has also been posted for Macomb, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe counties from 1 p.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday, with a little less snow -- accumulations of 1 to 4 inches == and winds gusts up to 50 mph possible.

The Friday afternoon commute will be slippery and treacherous in spots, where AccuWeather says highly fluctuating visibilities to or below 1 mile are expected given the breezy conditions.

School events around Metro Detroit canceled due to winter weather, and over 120 flights canceled or delayed by the storm.

Michiganders should plan on slippery road conditions throughout the entire state, although the snow may mix with or change over to rain for a time later Friday evening, especially in areas near and south of I-94. "The farther north and west you go the better chance you have of this staying mostly snow," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson said.

"It will turn colder overnight," Thompson said. "So any mix will switch over to snow as the night goes on...but the snow might get a little more spotty."

If you're headed out of the Metro Detroit area you'll want to take note:

All of the Upper Peninsula and most of central, south central, southwest and west central Michigan are under a Winter Storm Warning from 10 a.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday, with heavy snow accumulations of 8 to 13 inches expected and fierce wind gusts over 50 mph creating hazardous or "perhaps impossible" travel Friday night.

Hardest-hit may be Otsego, Montmorency, Crawford, Oscoda and Ogemaw counties in Lower Northern Michigan, where there's a Blizzard Warning in effect.
