ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -- Two Detroit men who allegedly broke into a Roseville 7-Eleven Monday and then crashed their stolen getaway car have been charged with multiple crimes, said police.

Bryan Gray, 33, and Deshawn Bryant Watkins, 25, were both charged with breaking and entering a building with the intent to steal -- a 10-year felony -- and assaulting/resisting a police officer -- a two-year felony.

Both are being held in the Macomb County Jail, with Watkins under a $15,000 bond, while Gray is being held with a $25,000 bond and an additional charge of receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, a five-year felony.

Roseville police were called to the scene on 18716 Masonic Road at approximately 5:36 a.m, where officials said a group of people using a dark-colored 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe to pull the front doors off the building.

According to authorities, the Tahoe had been stolen out of Detroit the day before the alleged break-in.

An officer said while on his way to the 7-Eleven, he saw a possible vehicle that matched the description in the area of Gratiot Avenue and Masonic Road.

The officer said he then maneuvered his patrol car to get a closer look, but the Tahoe fled, so he and other Roseville officers chased the vehicle south on Gratiot Avenue.

During the chase, officers said the driver tried to go over a median and lost control, causing the Tahoe to roll over and land on the passenger side.

Three people got out and fled on foot, according to officials.

Watkins was immediately taken into custody after a short foot chase, police said. The other two men ran east across Gratiot Avenue, according to authorities.

Roseville Police Chief Ryan Monroe saw Gray, the driver, fleeing on foot and as he was trying to jump over a brick wall, Monroe caught up to him and tackled him to the ground, authorities said.

Gray resisted and tried to get away from Monroe, but police said the chief was able to restrain him and take him into custody.

Gray's arrest happened about a half-mile from the crash scene, officials said.

There is a third suspect who managed to flee from the Tahoe and elude police.

Police continue to search for the third person who investigators said they believe was picked up by a second vehicle involved in the heist.
