(WWJ) A total of four people have been found guilty for their roles in the 2025 shooting death of a Pontiac businessman.
Sam Simko, 66, was killed on January 13, after authorities said video showed William Creasy pulling up in a black Ford Expedition and going into Simko's marijuana business, on University Drive near MLK Jr. Boulevard in Pontiac.
As Creasy exited the building, Scott Brown and Deonte Prophett got out of the Expedition, with Prophett brandishing a pistol, and entered the building, prosecutors said.
According to investigators, Simko — who was a Commerce Twp. resident — was lured there for a fake business meeting that authorities say was a pretext to rob the place.
Prosecutors said there was a struggle, and Prophett fired two rounds, killing Simko.
Simko, was found dead later that night by his business partner.
Following an investigation, all three suspects were tracked by police to Cincinnati, Ohio, were they were arrested.
Brown, Creasy and a third man, Christopher Matacia, were all found guilty of felony murder and armed robbery on Thursday.
Separately, Prophett was convicted on Tuesday of felony murder, armed robbery, felony firearm and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
“Two juries unanimously concluded that these men are guilty of Sam Simko’s murder,” said Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “While we know nothing can erase the Simko family’s loss, I am hopeful that these verdicts provide a measure of justice for Sam.”
All four men are scheduled to be sentenced in June.
