FLAT ROCK (WWJ) -- Some residents in Flat Rock affected by a gas leak have been given the go-ahead to return to their homes.
According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, 635 homes located in what was being referred to as ‘ZONE-2’ are clear of any impact from the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant chemical leak, which was first detected on August 31.
State officials believed that area needed to be investigated further for potential chemical exposure, and residents were advised to leave while testing was underway.
Federal and state authorities are continuing to screen and monitor data from ‘ZONE-1,’ and advise those residents to stay evacuated until further notice.
Information and updates will be shared on the City of Flat Rock’s official Facebook page.
