DETROIT (WWJ) -- A child has died after he was hit by a car while crossing the street on Detroit's west side.
Detroit Police said the tragic crash happened Saturday afternoon, in the area of Belton and Fielding streets.
According to investigations, the 8-year-old Detroit boy was on foot when he was hit by a Ford Taurus driven by a 19-year-old woman.
The boy was rushed by his father to a local hospital, where he later died on his injuries.
Police arrested the driver, whom they determined did not have a driver's license. She is expected to face charges.
No names have been released as the investigation continues.
