(WWJ) Strong winds sweeping across Metro Detroit knocked more than 195,000 homes and businesses off the power grid.
As of 7:30 p.m. Sunday DTE reported close to 195,279 outages in southeastern Michigan with the number going up by the minute. The same number remained without power Monday morning.

Significant outages are reported in Union Lake, Waterford Township, Birmingham, Bingham Farms, Bloomfield Township, Farmington Hills, Rochester, Taylor, Sterling Heights and Grosse Pointe.
There are several smaller outages reported in most communities across Oakland, Wayne, Macomb and parts of Washtenaw County.

While DTE has not given specific restoration times for the vast majority of the communities affected, the utility said 90% of customers should be back on the grid by Tuesday night.
On Monday, DTE said 380 crews -- including some worker called in from out-of-state -- were out in the field working to get the lights back on as soon as possible.
A high wind warning for metro Detroit expired at 4 a.m. Monday.
