DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police say they have a person of interest in custody in connection with what they called a “targeted sexual assault” that left a 63-year-old woman in critical condition earlier this month.

Police have not released any information about the person of interest and say the investigation is still ongoing.

The alleged assault happened back on Nov. 14 in the 4400 block of Joy Road -- between Dexter and Grand River -- on the city’s west side.

Authorities said the 63-year-old woman was found unconscious around 10 a.m. on Nov. 14 outside of a vacant church. The woman was found nearly naked by a witness who was walking down Joy that morning.
