AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) -- A woman is dead and a city employee is on administrative leave after a crash in Oakland County.
At around 6:03 a.m. Thursday, a 47-year-old woman was driving on Brown Road, just west of Giddings Road, in Auburn Hills when she was struck by a front-end loader.
Her 2021 Jeep Wrangler ended up on the lawn of a nearby business -- completely totaled.
The woman, a Lake Orion resident, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, officials say.
Auburn Hills police say the Caterpillar front-end loader was being operated by a 42-year-old man who works for the city.
Reports say the man was pulling out of the city's department of public works property and onto eastbound Brown Road when he collided with the Jeep.
Police say the man didn't sustain any injuries and has been cooperating with authorities during their investigation.
Officials also note that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
No other details have been provided at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
