DETROIT (WWJ) - Cue the tail wagging! A bull and a sheep that went missing last week after they were allegedly stolen from an urban farm in Detroit have been found Friday morning - but the search continues for their goat and calf companions.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reported live at the scene on Detroit's west side where two of four stolen animals were discovered near Livernois and Tireman Avenues early Friday (Feb.16) morning.
Detroit police were also at the scene conducting their investigation.
A bull named "Little Bully" and a sheep named "Angel" were being loaded into a van at around 6:30 a.m. to take them back to their home at Pingree Farms, located on the campus of Milton Manufacturing at 301 East Grixdale on the city's east side on the southwest corner of I-75 and 7 Mile Road.
The two animals are reported to be in good health --outside of a wound on the bull's back --and will be safely reunited with their farm.
But a goat that was also taken from the property remains missing a week after the alleged theft. As of Friday morning, WWJ learned a fourth stolen animal -- a calf -- has also yet to be found.
Aaron Hale with Pingree Farms told FOX 2 that suspects in a black SUV were caught canvassing the animals' barn on security footage around 3 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9.
One of the vehicles had a trailer hitched to the back, but it did not appear to have been made to transport animals.
"They worked their way over to the cows and they were opening the pens and just letting everything out and they grabbed three (animals) on their way," Hale said to FOX 2's Jessica Dupnack. "I could see him walking them across the street, into the vehicles."
The suspects are then seen on camera going through the property, opening gates and pens while appearing to spook the animals.
They snatched Little Bully and loaded him into the trailer while Angel and a goat were put into the back of one of the SUVs.
WWJ learned a calf was also snatched from the farm.
Speaking to Langton. the owner of Milton Manufacturing and Pingree Farms, Jim Green, said he thinks this may have been an inside job.
"Well, they cut the chain on the gate, came in, and they obviously knew which animals they were going for," Green said. "They came and grabbed the animals they wanted and turned the rest loose to run around the yard. Fortunately, none of them got out of the compound."
Pingree Farms is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide "neighborhood revitalization and youth education through agriculture," its website states. It sits in the shadow of Milton Manufacturing, a 300,000 square foot facility that specializes in metal fabrication, machining, plastic vac forming, industrial sewing.
Anyone with any information about this alleged abduction should contact the Detroit Police Department. The non-emergency number is 313-267-4600.
