A Pontiac man, who police call a career criminal, is in jail after allegedly going on a mini-crime spree on Easter Sunday.
Oakland County Sheriff deputies arrested Terry David Manney, 48, at his home this week after detectives determined he was the suspect wanted for breaking into gas stations in Pontiac and Independence Township and a store in Pontiac in less than an hour.
Manney is also linked to an April 1st break-in at a Pontiac market, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Investigators say in each case, Manney was shown on security cameras using a crowbar to enter the business or gas stations. In one incident, he was accused of stealing a large amount of cash. He's accused of stealing 30 cartons of cigarettes in another, according to authorities.
“Great work by our detectives and the teams at the Pontiac and Independence Township substations to identify and take this career criminal off the street,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a statement. “He is suspected in multiple business burglaries in recent days and given his over 60 pages of past criminal history, that would likely continue without him being caught."
Manney was arraigned Wednesday in 52-2nd District Court on the breaking and entering charge. He is expected to be arraigned as soon as Thursday in 50th District Court on four other felony counts including safe breaking, breaking and entering and breaking and entering with intent.
The safe breaking charge carries a penalty of up to life in prison.
Manney has five prior convictions in Michigan and 16 felony convictions in Florida for drug-related crimes, theft and various break-ins, according to the Sheriff's Department.
An arrest warrant was issued for Manney on April 11, 2025, for being a parole absconder.
