(WWJ) A young Dearborn Heights man has been charged in the deadly shooting of his father in Romulus.

Devon Hackney, 19, has been charged with one count of Open Murder and one Count of Felony Firearm.

Wayne County Prosecutors say Romulus police officers were dispatched to Conover Street (14100 block) in the area of Hannan Rd. and I-94 on Wednesday afternoon for a shooting. When they arrived, officers found the man’s father, Alex Hackney, in the driveway with three gunshot wounds to his chest.

Hackney was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police believe the victim and the suspect got into a physical altercation, leading to the shooting.

The suspect is being held on 125,000/10% bond with a tether provision if posted. He is due back in court on May 5.
