FERNDALE (WWJ) A Detroit man has been arraigned in connection to stealing a “large amount of cash” from a bank in Ferndale.

Ferndale Police said officers were called to Comerica Bank on 9 Mile at Hilton around 9:15 a.m. Monday for a robbery in progress. They said the suspect walked up to teller and passed a note demanding money. Witnesses said he was wearing a windbreaker and had a tattoo under his right eye.

He said he was “robing the bank,” but never pulled out a weapon, police said.

He took an undisclosed amount of cash and ran away. No one was injured during the robbery.

About an hour later, officers found Isaac Pettiford, 45, hiding in a kid’s tunnel slide in a nearby park. The money was recovered. No weapon was found on him.

Pettiford was arraigned on the felony charge of Bank Robbery, 1 count. He was given a $50,000 cash bond. He is due back in court on June 17.
