Detroit man wanted for shooting 2, hitting man with car

Police say they're searching for 23-year-old John James.

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for the public's help in finding the man they say shot two people and then hit one of them with his car.

Authorities say a verbal altercation broke out around 11 p.m. Wednesday on Chalmers Street near Warren - on the city's east side -- before turning violent.

The suspect, who has been identified as 23-year-old John James, allegedly fired multiple shots in the direction of the 44-year-old man he was arguing with, police said. The man was struck and eventually taken to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

While the events were unfolding, a 21-year-old man was walking down the street and was also hit by gunfire. After he was struck, the victim began running and as James fled the scene in a white Chrysler Aspen, he was hit by the vehicle.

Officers responding to the scene immediately rendered aid to the victim and took him to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police say James is described as a 23-year-old black male, about 5-foot-10, 185 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair and multiple tattoos. He has the word "blessed" on his left forearm and a sleeve of tattoos on his entire forearm arm. He also has "GOD" and "RIP" on his right forearm, as well as a heart with wings on his chest that says "Fear no man but God."

James was last seen driving a white, 2008 Chrysler Aspen with tinted windows and Michigan license plate No. EJA1242.

The suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous.
